“I would have to say all good.

I knew I really needed to get into a regular exercise program to improve quality of life as I age. In the beginning, I rated working out at about 2-3 on a scale of 1-10. . .now I would probably rate it about 7-8 (you really didn’t think I would going to say 10 did you?)

My primary reason for starting was concern about bone density. A little over 2 years ago, I tested as having low bone density over my entire body. . .even lower on lower body than upper body. The doctor put me on Actenol and calcium plus vitamin D, but everything I read suggested that I also needed to add weight bearing exercise. I joined because I knew from experience that I wouldn’t stick to it on my own. Eighteen months later, I was tested again. My upper body bone density had moved back into the normal range and the lower body had greatly improved. If I improve as much on next test, I’ll be able to drop the Actenol.

I’ve also seen other benefits. . .I have better flexibility and strength. . .as I would have expected. What I wasn’t expecting was that I sleep better and seem to have a great deal less pain from arthritis.

Weight is still a problem. . .I really enjoy eating. I have been fairly successful in the last couple of months, but only time will tell if I will continue to lose and then maintain.

I believe the best thing is the trainers…everyone I’ve worked with is great. They seem to really care about my success and keep me working to improve my diet by suggesting reading materials to reinforce their suggestions.

“Me, work out . . .Never! I never thought I’d be working out but that all changed when I was given the opportunity of a lifetime. I was one of three ladies selected for an extreme makeover. We were given a list of luxuries but the one that turned out to be the best part was the free sessions!! I didn’t think that at first, I thought I’d just get through them and be done with it. Turned out that was the best part of the entire package I received. I don’t even call them work outs – they are now known as my “fun-outs”.
